Pink Aztec Nails!

 Hey Everybody!
This is the first post I've done in a while so hopefully you like it. The nights are drawing in now, I'm writing this at 5:18pm and it's already dark outside!
However, hopefully this easy-to-do manicure will brighten up the day. I got loads of compliments from my friends with this manicure and if you do this I'm sure you will too!
Even though it looks complicated, I used a nail art pen and it was super simple! I would definitely recommend them, it's just like doodling!

I hope you like :)

Watercolour style manicure!

 Hey Everybody!

OK, so I don't know how many of you have tried to do water marbling using nail varnish but I have and it was really tricky and didn't turn out very well so after scouring the Internet I found this mega-easy and super-quick manicure which I think looks really effective and doesn't require any special tools or magic skills!

All you need is
- A white nail varnish
- A topcoat
- 3 different coloured, but complementary, polishes
- Nail Polish remover
- A small-ish paintbrush.

So, what do you do?
1. Paint your nails with 2 coats of white and then apply a topcoat.
2. Put a couple of blobs of polish of 1 colour on your nail. Saturate the brush in nail varnish remover and splodge the blob around your nail.
3. Repeat step 2 with the other 2 colors until you are happy with what you've got.
However...
If you hold the brush on your nail for too long then you will remove the white and it doesn't look so good!

Don't forget to leave any comments!

I hope you like :)

MInnie Mouse Nails!

Hi Everybody!

So, this week I have continued along the Disney theme and done quite a simple design based on the adorable character of Minnie Mouse. I love "character" nails because I think they are so recognisable and who doesn't love a bit of nostalgia!

Like I said, this is a pretty easy manicure, as long as you have a dotting tool!
1. Paint all of your nails, except your ring finger, in a bright red and using a large dotting tool add big white dots randomly all over your nails.
2. Paint your ring finger white (you might need to do 2 coats).
3. Using a smaller dotting tool add black dots for Minnie's face and then using a teeny weeny dotting tool, or a cocktail stick to add her ears and bow.
4. Finish with a topcoat.

Unfortunately we only have a few weeks left of the summer holidays (Boo!) so I might not be posting much in September whilst I try to get to grips with starting Sixth Form. But, I'll try to do some Back to School nails this week to get me in the mindset.
See you next week Blogettes!

I hope you like :)

Despicable Me Minion Nails!!

Hello everybody!
So, I am so uber-mega-excited to share this nail art with you today: as you've probably guessed from the title I have painted the minions from the amazing film Despicable Me onto my nails! I don't know if you've seen the movie but even as a 16 year old girl I would have to say that it is one of my all-time favourites and after going to watch the sequel the other week I just had to try out these adorable minion nails.

If you haven't seen the movie then I'll just say you will fall in love with the cute storyline, the lovable evil master Gru and the girls, "It's so fluffy I'm gunna die" (you know what I'm talking about!) and of course the hilarious minions!

So, I will say that these nails took me quite a while to do because there are so many layers but I've included a quick photo tutorial at the bottom of the post so check it out and give it a go! I think that the brighter the nail polish you use the better the finished result so don't be afraid to do multiple coats of polish.

Papoy? Ah, PaPOY!
Colours used:
Sinful Colors - Let's Meet,
Rio Professional Nail Art Pen in Black
LA Colors - Live
Sinful Colors - Snow Me White
Kiss Me Quick collection from Boots in Blue

 1. Paint your nails with 2 coats of yellow nail varnish. Please use a base coat though because I did this about a week ago and my nails are still stained yellow so, live and learn I guess...
2. Paint a black strip with a striping brush to make the goggles.
3. Use a dotting tool to create the silver outline of the goggles.
4. Add the whites of the eyes leaving a border for the goggles and use a small dotting tool to make the pupil.
5. Give those minions some expression! Use a dotting tool.
6. Make their dungarees using blue polish with a dotting tool or small paint brush. Add a black dot to look like the Despicable Me logo. And, voila! Add a topcoat to seal in your design.

I hope you like! :)

Product review: Shellac Manicure

Today I am back with a post that is a bit different from anything I've really done before, so...

For my prom I had a manicure and this isn't something that I'd normally do as I'm quite happy to just mess about and experiment on my nails but as it was such a special occasion I decided to have a Shellac manicure.

Now, if you don't know what Shellac is it's a UV set nail polish that they say should last at least 14 days. The manicurist applies a base coat, followed by 2 coats of colour and then a top coat and the best part is, there is no drying time! Once the polish has been set under a UV lamp , voila!

On the left here is the manicure just after I'd had it done and as you can see it is so shiny!! I loved the gloss and it lasted throughout the whole manicure.

Another great thing about Shellac is that it really did last 14 days: it survived the prom and then I didn't take it off until 3 weeks after when it was just starting to peel at the top of my nail.

There were a huge choice of colours so I managed to get a shade that matched my dress perfectly.

The only bad thing that I would say is removing the nail varnish is quite a bit of effort. You have to soak each nail in acetone or nail varnish remover containing acetone for 10 minutes before peeling it off. This was quite a faf and left my nails feeling quite dry and brittle but with a bit of moisturizer and nail conditioner they were back to normal.

So, overall I would say that this is a great manicure that looked great and lasted really well and would be ideal for a holiday.

I hope you like :)

Splattered Nails!

Hello again guys!
So this week I have done a splatter paint nail design. I didn't want to use the method where you actually splatter the nail varnish from a small paintbrush or toothbrush because I'm messy enough as it is and I can guarantee a widespread nail varnish disaster!!

You could do this design using any colours but the colours that I chose have quite a lot of contrast so I am very pleased with the final result :)

The nail varnishes that I used are:
- Snow Me White from Sinful Colors,
- Exotic Green from Sinful Colors,
- Let's Meet, also from Sinful Colors,
- Cyan Blue by Barry M and
- Red from Fearne Cotton's Perfect Polish Collection.

Here's a quick tutorial:

1) Paint your nails 2 coats with a white nail varnish.

2) Using a dotting tool/cocktail stick/striping brush, start in one corner and create a splatter making sure to add coloured dots to the rest of the nails.
3) Repeat this with each of your 4 colours making sure to clean your tool between each colour.
4) Do the same on all of your nails putting the colours in a different place each time.
5) When it's all dry apply a topcoat to seal in your design.

I hope you like :)

Vintage Rose Nails!

Hello again guys!
I thought the weather was going to get better this week and we could enjoy some sunshine seeing that Summer has now officially begun but alas.... I am sat here looking out of my window at what can only be described as a dreary, windy British day. Hmmph!
Anyway, I really hope it gets sunnier as it is my Year 11 Leavers Ball on Friday and I can't even begin to express my excitement!! :D

So, this week I have done some vintage rose nails inspired by a tutorial on Youtube by cutepolish.
This design was actually surprisingly easy and didn't take too long which is always a bonus because I'm so impatient when it comes to letting nail varnish dry!

To do this design I used:
- Snow Me White by Sinful Colors,
- Exotic Green by Sinful Colors,
- 17 High Gloss Nail Polish in LOVE,
- Fearne Cotton's Baby Pink from her Perfect Polish collection.

Hope you're all enjoying the summer wherever you are and

Bumble Bee and Strawberry Nail Art

Hi Everybody! I hope you're all having a great summer, I have now finished my GCSEs which is very scary and I can't really believe that secondary school is finished.
Anyway, I've had over 500 views on my blog now and that makes me a very happy girlie :D Let's try to reach 1000!

This manicure is from last weekend (hence the sunny weather) and I just wanted to go for something really cute and bright so I've done sparkly strawberries and buzzy bumble bees.

The nail varnishes that I used for this manicure are:
- Fearne Cotton's Red from the Perfect Polish Collection (as pictured below)
- Sinful Colors in Let's Meet for the Strawberry seeds and the bees and again in Exotic Green for the leaves.
- Model's Own  in Emerald City for the green sparkles.
- Rio Nail Art Pen in Black
- Kiss Me Quick from a Boot's Collection for the blue background.

I'd love to know what you think of my designs so please don't hesitate to leave comments on any of my posts.

I hope you like :)

Cow Print Nails!

Hi everybody. Well, the gorgeous weather has continued, HURRAH! I hope you're all out enjoying the lovely sunshine.

Today I have a really simple nail art design that is easy to do but I think it looks really effective. I did this manicure a couple of weeks ago when I went to the Royal Bath & West Show, I thought it was kind of appropriate for the occasion :) (If you don't know it's a huge agricultural show here in England).

The nail varnishes that I used to do this design are:
- Sinful Colors in Snow White for the base,
- Rio Nail Art pen in Black for the cow's patches,
- Rimmel 60 Seconds in Clear as a top coat,
- Fearne Cotton's Light Pink form her Perfect Polish Christmas Gift Set.

I hope you like :)

Daisy Nail Art!

Hi guys, it's been such a long time but I'm here now, the sun is shining and I have another gorgeous nail design to share with you!

This week I have done a design with daisies and smiley faces which I think is great for summer: long may the great weather continue!
This design is really simple to do so you should definitely give it a go. I've included a short tutorial with this post so get painting :D

The nail varnishes that I used (from left to right) are:
- Rio Nail Art pen in Black
- Kiss Me Quick from Boots in Blue
- Rimmel 60 Seconds in Clear
- Sinful Colors in Snow Me White
- Sinful Colors in Let's Meet.

To do this nail art design:
1. Paint all of your nails, except the ring finger, in a really bright blue. Paint the ring finger in yellow. I always try to do 2 coats because you get a brighter, more opaque colour that lasts longer.
2. Use a nail art pen (if you don't have one you an use a dotting tool or a cocktail stick) and paint a happy, beaming face on your ring finger.
3. When the blue nail varnish is dry, use a dotting tool to paint 5 dots in a circle to make the daisies.
4. When the white is dry paint a yellow dot in the centre.
5. When your design is completely dry add a top coat to seal everything in and add that beautiful shine.

I hope you like :)

Ombre Nails

This is an effect I have wanted to try for ages and I first gave it a go a couple of weeks ago when I did Pink Nails (keep scrolling, you'll find it!). It got a bit messy, so I would advise covering around your nails with cellotape or something similar, but was easier than I expected. I'm not really sure what type of sponge you are meant to use but I just cut up a washing up-sponge!
The picture on the left shows all the nail varnishes I used and they are:
- Kiss me Quick in Pale Green (although it's much more blue, I used this as the lightest base colour)
- Kiss Me Quick in Blue
- Model's Own in
- Barry M's Aqua Glitter
- Barry M's Aqua Blue
- Barry M's Cyan Blue
- Rimmel 60 Seconds in Clear

Cherry Nail Art!!

This week I have done some really cute bright red cherries on my nails.

The photo below shows the nail polishes that I used. From left to right they are:
- Sinful Colors in Snow Me White
- Sinful Colous in Exotic Green
- Fearne Cotton from the Perfect Polish Gift Set
- Rimmel 60 Seconds in Clear
- Model' Own in Scarlet Sparkle

Below is a short tutorial, showing how I achieved this effect. If you do this you will be sure to receive loads of compliments as they are so cute!
1. Paint your nails with two coats of a plain white base-coat.
2. Use a dotting tool to make the cherries. Don't do them too close together or you won't be able to add the stalks and they don't have to be all the same size either.
3. Use a teeny-weeny paintbrush to paint on the stalks.
4. Paint on the "shine" using a smaller dotting tool. Firstly do a white circle on the top right of each cherry then a small red circle overlapping the white one to make a half moon shape.
5. Apply a top-coat.

Happy Easter from 10 Nails and Counting!!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!
So, today I've done some cute Easter bunnies with a carrot on the ring finger. They were pretty simple to do, I just used a dotting tool to make their head and little ears, then again to do the pink ears and nose and added the whiskers with a tiny dotting tool.
Happy Easter to everyone, try not to eat too much chocolate!!

Easter Chicks!!

Happy Easter Everybody!!
Today I have done Easter chicks on my nails, I'm not sure about them: I think they might be a bit basic but you don't know until you try as they say!
For these nails I used:
Sinful Colors - Let's Meet (Yellow)
Barry M - Tangarine (Orange)
Rio Professional Nail Art Pen in Black
Sinful Colors - Snow Me White

Here's a quick tutorial:
1. Firstly paint the nails one solid colour.
2. Use a dotting tool to paint the beak and feet.
3. Use a dotting tool to paint two large black dots for the eyes.
3. Use a smaller dotting tool to add the white dots for the eyes.

Happy Easter and I hope you like :)

Flower Mani!!

In my last post, Pink Nails!!, I did a flowery design and this week I took that design and did it on each of my nails but in different colours. I used loads of different polishes for this so I can't name them all but I tried to use colours that contrasted but were pretty :)

Below is a bit of a tutorial that shows what I did:
1. Paint each nail a different colour. I always do 2 coats so that it is opaque.
2. Using a dotting tool, use a similar colour to the base coat to paint dots all over the nail. Leave big enough gaps in between to add the flowers.
3. Use a smaller dotting tool to make dots all around the first dots. Did that make sense? Anyway, you can see what I did below. It doesn't matter if the flowers touch.
4. Once completely dry, add a clear top cat. I used Rimmel 60 seconds in Clear.

I hope you like :)

Pink Nails!!

This week I wanted to try a couple of different nail art techniques.
And I tried to use only used 3 different nail varnishes: Fearne Cottons's Baby Pink, and Coral/Salmon colour (I'm not sure of their exact names because they're from a gift set) and 17 High Gloss in LOVE. Then I added a topcoat of Rimmel 60 Seconds in Clear.
So, from left to right. On my thumb I used a dotting tool and I think this effect is called feathering. You simply start at the top and create a line of dots and then work your way down the nail using more lines of dots.
On my index finger I used cellotape to make the pointy shapes. I painted my nail in one solid colour and once it completely was dry I put on the cellotape and painted over the top and gently peeled of the cellotape.
On my middle finger I used a sponge to make an ombre effect.
On my ring finger I used a dotting tool to make the little flowers.
And finally on my little finger I used cellotape again.

And this weekend we break up for the Easter holidays: Hurrah!! So, hopefully you can expect to see some more designs over the next two weeks. I hop you like :)

Abstract nails!!

This week's nail art was inspired by a design I saw on the Internet. It took me forever but I was so pleased with the finished result, I could have tidied around the edges a bit more however I was expected it to be much messier than this so I am definitely happy!
To do these nails firstly paint each nail a different colour, this will make up the central square. Then, paint a strip along the bottom, a strip up the right, another along the top and finally one down the left. To finish add lines using a black nail art pen. The nail varnishes that I used are pictured below.
I hope you like! :)
